Throughout this book, the author has presented analogies and poetry with a little "HOG BOTTOM "history to emphasize key concepts, some of which may be familiar to the reader.
The author basically uses the 70's as her focus point in the way people in her community did things. The book reveals a little history and photos of real people from this place called Hog Bottom located in the West side of Dayton, Ohio. Her poetry reflects on the reaction of the children to the rules provided by the adults in this era.
The author's point of view in her imaginative writing : is everyone has a Hog Bottom that they too may relate to when reading this book about life in the 70's . Those days when there was little to nothing to live on, but the people lived with a moral solution in preparing
thier children with tools for making life easier. If you like poetry that makes sense , this is a really good book to read.
